About the WAPC
The Western Australian Philatelic Council (Inc.) helps coordinate the
activities and promotion of the hobby of stamp collecting. The membership
which meets monthly, includes philatelic societies and stamp clubs,
stamp dealers and interested private individuals.
Its objectives include:
Bringing into accord the aims and activities of all stamp clubs in W.A.
and promoting good fellowship and mutual cooperation.
To give assistance to philatelic organisations by the provision of finance
and supply of display frames.
To protect the interests of philatelic groups and their members.
To encourage and support the formation of new philatelic groups, and
give advice and materials for this purpose on request.
To raise finance in order to promote and foster stamp collecting.
To liaise with Australia Post and the trade for the benefit of the stamp
collector.
Projects include:
Philatelic workshops;
Organising speakers and displays for club meetings;
‘The Stamp World of Western Australia’ booklet;
Annual inter-club philatelic quiz;
Administration of the Hasluck Award;
List of philatelic literature available for borrowing;
Swan River Stamp Show incorporating Swanpex, our annual stamp
show;
Encourage research into the postal history of Western Australia.

The Council is the philatelist’s
representative body to the Australian Philatelic Federation
(APF) which is itself a
member of the Federation Internationale de Philatelie (FIP)
and the Federation of Inter-Asian Philately (FIAP).
